Center for American Liberty v. Lynwood USD

Center for American Liberty v. Lynwood USD

What is the Lynwood Unified School District hiding from parents?

California law requires public school districts—and other government bodies—to be transparent with the public—to release public records upon request. But the Lynwood Unified School District is ignoring its legal obligations and is making a sport out of keeping secrets from moms and dads.

On July 23, 2024, the Center for American Liberty submitted a public records request to the Lynwood Unified School District. Specifically, the Center for American Liberty requested policies and procedures, forms, staff training materials, ledgers and receipts, and certain communications regarding the implementation of D.E.I. and socially transitioning children.

Lynwood USD did not respond.

Then on August 20, 2024, the Center for American Liberty sent a letter following up on the previous month’s request.

Still, Lynwood USD did not respond.

Not only did Lynwood not respond substantively to the records request, it didn’t even acknowledge receipt. Lynwood completely ignored the Center for American Liberty’s request for documents leaving the Center no choice by to file a lawsuit seeking relief from the court.
