GIFT ACCEPTANCE POLICY

The Center for American Liberty welcomes restricted gifts that support specific programs, litigation funds, or educational campaigns. However, to prevent administrative paralysis or “mission creep,” a gift restricted to a specific purpose or project will only be accepted if the project is already part of our approved strategic plan or annual budget. The Center will not create new programs or initiate specific legal actions solely to accommodate a donor’s restriction without explicit approval from the Center’s Gift Acceptance Committee (GAC).

To ensure restricted projects do not deplete general operating resources, all restricted gifts are subject to an administrative infrastructure assessment.

The Center will strictly decline any restricted gift that: grants the donor ongoing control over the selection of specific legal cases, clients, vendors, or personnel; violates the Center’s non-discrimination policy or compromises its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status; or contains conditions that require the Center to violate federal, state, or local laws.

To maintain administrative efficiency and ensure accounting compliance, the Center enforces a minimum funding threshold of $10,000 for restricted gifts with rare exception by the GAC. The staff is not authorized to accept donor-imposed restrictions on gifts that fall below these amounts.

Endowments: Any request to establish a permanent, true endowment (where the principal is held in perpetuity and only earnings are spent) requires a minimum contribution of $100,000 and a separate, formal Endowment Agreement approved by the Board of Directors.

Pooling of Small Gifts Note: If multiple donors wish to crowd-fund or collectively support a specific initiative, the GAC may authorize a restricted pool, provided the collective total is projected to exceed the $10,000 threshold within the current fiscal year.

Gifts of publicly traded stocks, bonds, and mutual funds are highly encouraged but represent market volatility risk. It is the strict policy of the Center to liquidate all publicly traded securities immediately upon transfer into the Center’s brokerage account.

The Center for American Liberty will provide a written contemporaneous acknowledgment for all gifts of $250 or more, in strict compliance with IRS Section 170(f)(8).

Content: The receipt must state the amount of cash received, a description (but not a valuation) of any non-cash property received, and an explicit statement confirming whether or not Center for American Liberty provided any goods or services in exchange for the gift.

501(c)(3) Deductibility Notice:
“The Center for American Liberty is a registered 501(c)(3) organization. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. No goods or services were provided in exchange for this contribution.”

PRIVACY POLICY

Your privacy on the Internet is important to us. As part of the operation and customization feature of Center for American Liberty’s website (“libertycenter.org”), we gather certain types of information from users, and we would like to explain the types of information we gather, what we do with them, and how to correct or change the information.

Information Collected By libertycenter.org

libertycenter.org collects two types of information from users: personal data such as zip code, email address and demographic information; and aggregated data such as information about traffic patterns on libertycenter.org (for example, how many users log on to libertycenter.org on a daily basis).

Aggregated Information

Aggregated information, such as which pages users visit, is collected through various means. One of these ways is through an IP address, a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web. Web servers, the computers that “serve up” Web pages, automatically identify your computer by its IP address. When you request a page from libertycenter.org, our servers log your IP address. libertycenter.org does not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable, so although your session will be logged, your session will remain anonymous to us. libertycenter.org collects IP addresses for the purposes of system administration only.

Use of Cookies

libertycenter.org uses cookies to automate the process of logging on to certain areas of the site. The libertycenter.org cookie is a small data file stored on your computer that contains a single, randomly assigned user ID number. By recognizing this ID number, libertycenter.org can automatically provide you with the personalized content for which you requested. Cookies can neither read any other files on your computer, nor damage your computer. Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. If you’d prefer, you can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent.

Use of Information Collected by libertycenter.org

libertycenter.org uses both the personal and aggregated information we collect for multiple purposes. The information is used to improve the content of the site, to customize the content and/or layout of the site for each individual user, and if requested, to provide information services by email to the user. After registration, users will receive a single email message confirming registration. Center for American Liberty will never disclose your personally identifiable information to a third party unless required to do so by court order, law or governmental agency. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties unless required by law.

Information Security at libertycenter.org

Center for American Liberty employees understand the need for user privacy and libertycenter.org has appointed a privacy policy administrator to monitor privacy practices. Access to user data is strictly limited and can only be accessed by specific individuals who have the necessary username and password combination. A log is maintained to record who has accessed the data. This log is checked at least weekly for possible security breaches.

Children and Privacy

Center for American Liberty encourages parents and guardians to spend time with their children online and to be fully familiar with the sites visited by their children. In general, libertycenter.org will not contain content that is reasonably considered unsuitable for children.
