Martinez, Calif. — The Center for American Liberty (@Liberty_Ctr) sent a letter to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors today demanding that they rescind the 12 person attendance limit to religious gatherings and protect their right to privacy.

The letter calls into questions the origins and justification for the 12 person limit when no other entity is subject to it nor is it aligned with the state’s health order. The letter also cites United States Attorney General William Barr’s April 14 memo stating an interest in ensuring equal protection to houses of worship.
“It’s unbelievable that Contra Costa County continues to single out places of worship for unjustifiable, draconian measures, such as limiting religious services to 12 attendees while simultaneously allowing thousands of people to march in its streets. The County cannot pick and choose which parts of the First Amendment it feels like adhering to,” said Harmeet K. Dhillon (@pnjaban) CEO of the Center for American Liberty. “Contra Costa County continues to lag well behind the rest of California in reopening without scientific justification and at the expense of artificially suppressing its citizens Constitutional rights.”
The Center for American Liberty has been leading the fight to repeal unconstitutional and discriminatory draconian measures taken by local and state governments throughout the United States.
